Sometimes accidents happen and you find that your laptop has had a drink or some other liquid spilt into it. Don't worry, we have successfully recovered many laptops that have had coffee, tea, wine, beer, and fizzy drinks such as coke spilt into them. Just follow the instructions below if you have spilt liquid into your laptop
First DON'T PANIC!!!!
-
Shut down your laptop immediately.
-
Unplug your laptop immediately from both the DC adaptor and from the Mains Power socket on the wall then remove the battery. (this will stop it from possibly shorting out)
-
Mop up any excess liquid using a towel or tissue, do not place in an airing cupboard or use something like a hair dryer to dry up the liquid, this can potentially cause more damage.
-
Do not just leave your laptop to dry out, some liquids will damage your laptop more the longer you leave them. Drinks such as Coke contain lots of sugars and acid, which will destroy mainboards in laptops within days.
-
Bring your laptop into us at the soonest possible time. The longer you leave it, the more irreparable the damage can be.
-
Pricing for repairs starts from £45, which in the best scenarios there is no damage, your laptop just needs a good internal clean up. But it is very common a new keyboard might be needed. or we have to perform a re-flow on the mainboard to clean up the electronic contacts that have started to corrode.
